I somehow never read this as a kid!

With all the excitement surrounding the new movie coming out, I wanted to read A Wrinkle in Time again.  I say again, because I was nearly convinced I read it as a child.  Somehow, I did not!  I’m not sure how that happened, because this is right up my alley.  I listened to the audiobook in the car, and it went so quickly!  I loved it by the way.  I already put holds on the rest of the books in the Time Quintet, so look forward to them too!

So the basics plot is that a girl named Meg (I think she’s a preteen) is kind of an outsider.  She’s smart and caring, but she really doesn’t do well in school.  Her dad has been missing for a few years too.  All they know is that he went somewhere for work, and they hadn’t seen him or heard from him in a long time.  Meg has three younger brothers.  The twins are pretty “normal”, and her youngest brother is really not.  People think he’s dumb, but he’s actually probably smarter than all of them (including the adults).  I loved how much Meg and Charles Wallace (her little brother) loved each other.

Charles Wallace meets a strange lady named Mrs. Whatsit.  One night she comes into their house for warmth from the storm and meets the rest of the family.  Charles Wallace then takes Meg to meet the rest of her friends too.  They find a neighborhood boy Calvin near the old lady’s house.  They basically just absorb him into their little group.  He seems cool.

From here on, things get weird.  I don’t want to ruin anything, because it was a really interesting story.  I’m hoping that many of the characters (from other planets) are revisited in the next few books.  I hope the movie lives up to the hype too!
