There will be spoilers in this review because there has to be. A blow by blow account of the book; though often frowned upon in reviews, is needed in this one.
Once upon a time a screenshot was posted of the synopsis for this book. It was bad and in a very strange twist it was the badness that drew me in. Imagine my joy when the book showed up on Kindle Unlimited. The synopsis wouldn’t draw anyone in with it’s attempt at drama, and confusing comment about a centuries old feud. It reads as if we’re looking at someone travelling through time, and falling in love with the descendant of someone they loved before. As it turns out the tag line used doesn’t even get a look in during the story – where’s the hardened Marine back story? Huh?
This book sounds like a hot mess!
Facebook kept suggesting this as a book for me with it’s stupid, stupid ads and this review makes me very glad that I knew it was not the book for me.
Welcome to the world of reviewing really bad books! The opportunity to snark with impunity is wonderful.
That aside, I appreciated your breakdown of all the abused tropes. It sounds like the author had a checklist they were working down.
