More Gideon and Sirius – and Sirius lives through the whole book!

April 12, 2018 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

So this is book two of the Gideon and Sirius series.  Sirius is again one of the two main characters, and he’s just as lovable as in the first book.  Gideon’s ok too.  He’s a little childish, but I don’t find him that annoying.  I read a few Goodreads reviews for these books, and a lot of people noted that Gideon’s constant puns and joking around are annoying.  I’m a big fan of puns.  My dad’s a big punner (made up word), so that endears me to people who pun (definition of punner).

This case is a weird one.  A homeless man nicknamed “Wrong” sees an angel get killed.  He immediately stops drinking and alerts the authorities.  Because it’s a bit of a weird case, it goes to Gideon and Sirius.  They interview Wrong and find him credible, even though he is a drunk who lives on the street.

After G&S start looking into the potential angel murder, Wrong gets murdered.  There’s also a side case where a guy stops an elementary school shooting.  The boys work both cases at once.  I like that they figured out who the guy who stopped the shooting was about three quarters of the way through, and integrate the guy into the investigation of the other case.  G&S need backup at one point, and the dude is badass.

I’d give this book 3.5 stars.  I’m not gonna lie, it’s mostly because one of the main characters is a dog and he lives through the end!

I love to read. I'm usually reading at least 3 books at a time. They're not all good... some are really bad. I have trouble not finishing books though. Now CBR has doubled down on that trouble, because I want to get credit for reading the bad ones too! View kfishgirl's reviews»
