Do you want to kill yourself? Laura will listen!

May 24, 2018 by kfishgirl 1 Comment

Laura works at a suicide helpline called End of the Line.  They’re supposed to offer comfort and support and listen to people who are depressed and contemplating suicide.  They’re not necessarily supposed to talk people out of killing themselves, but they are supposed to offer them some positive options and words.  Laura just realllly likes to hear people die.  Like to the point where she basically talks people into killing themselves while she’s on the phone with them to hear them die.

Laura keeps the funeral cards of the people she’s talked into suicide in her purse, and they comfort her.  She helps a man named David and a pregnant woman with prenatal depression jump off a cliff together.  She’s satisfied as it was her first double suicide that she assisted.  She gets all the way through a new “candidate” named Steven, and she’s at his house to watch him hang himself, and something goes wrong.

I don’t want to spoil anything, because the reveal is interesting.  Apparently someone’s been paying attention to Laura, and doesn’t like what she’s doing.  He starts a cat and mouse game that Laura doesn’t even realize she’s in until it’s almost too late.  Don’t get me wrong, you aren’t rooting for Laura to win.  But she’s crafty and sneaky and devious, and doesn’t care what she does to people as long as she gets what she wants.  More people die, mostly innocent people, and it looks like Laura’s going to get away with it.  Until the very very end, when we see that someone even closer was paying attention, and doesn’t want her to win.

I love to read. I'm usually reading at least 3 books at a time. They're not all good... some are really bad. I have trouble not finishing books though. Now CBR has doubled down on that trouble, because I want to get credit for reading the bad ones too! View kfishgirl's reviews»
