Fox and the Bike Ride

June 12, 2018 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

There are a few things I am not crazy about (foxes “trick” is not cool fox, not cool at all). But the joke about the snack that is meant for Fox is amusing. Fox and the Bike Ride is a modern story that does not always resonate with me. I like parts of the book but mostly I do not. The modern child will like the fact that fox is sneaky and the adventure.

The illustrations are interesting. Why does a turtle need a fishbowl scuba helmet in the ocean? (I am guessing Turtle is a fresh water turtle) They are quirky and almost unfished adding to the chaotic nature of Fox. The humor of Elephant having the biggest backpack (so they carry things) is amusing. And the fact Frog oversees the photographs is probably my favorite part (as he always seems to get the shot). And I would love to listen to the band Early Bird and the Worms (a neat little Easter egg hidden on the page).

Corey R. Tabor has created a book that must find the right home (as each of the animal friends have to have the right snack). I would be more likely to recommend this to a rambunctious child three to six or seven. The older child would be able to start reading on their own, or with a bit of help. Any age could create their own funny story about what they would do if they were looking for adventure with their friends.

And this image is blurry, as Frog asked me to take it during their Bike Ride day adventures.
