Apparently I skipped reviewing this one?

July 12, 2018 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

I was just comparing my Goodreads total with my CBR10 total, and I was missing a book on CBR.  THAT WILL NOT DO!  Don’t worry, I figured it out, it’s obvs this book.  I think I just read like four Joe Dillard books in a row, and this one got left by the wayside (is that the saying?)

So, this is the second to last Joe Dillard book!  I believe I liked it.  I can’t actually remember right this second.  The summer is melting my brain right now.  I’m sick of being uncomfortable and sweaty alllll the time.  I feel like I can’t think straight.

Someone has been kidnapping and murdering judges, and a guy gets picked up by the cops with body parts in the back of his truck.  They turn out to be from a missing judge, and this guy is immediately arrested.  I can’t remember how, but he hires Joe, and Joe quickly realizes that the guy’s innocent.  We then delve into the guys childhood, which sounds suuuuper bad.  His dad was a sadistic rapist, and tortured his mother to death.  The guy (I’m sorry, I can’t remember his name) has a brother who basically saved him while his dad was raping him (the guy), and he seems to have his life together.

We of course find out that someone is still kidnapping and murdering judges while “the guy” is still in jail.  Plus, the cops effed up majorly in the arrest.  One of my favorite characters (Sheriff Leon Bates) is back in this one, and plays a substantial role in the story.  It was a good one, I’m sorry I forgot to review it!!

I love to read. I'm usually reading at least 3 books at a time. They're not all good... some are really bad. I have trouble not finishing books though. Now CBR has doubled down on that trouble, because I want to get credit for reading the bad ones too! View kfishgirl's reviews»
