Tiny bubbles Make me happy

July 9, 2018 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

Bubbles. Who does not like bubbles? Kangaroo sure does! And in this cute (but has been done before) story, Kit Chase shows us how much Kangaroo loves blowing Bubbles. In fact, when she finds some new ones floating by, she follows them and finds Koala. Who is blowing bubbles, too, but does not see very friendly. In fact, is down right shy. Soon, he starts to play with Kangaroo (although while he’s still in the tree). Yet, when Kangaroo needs help from the big bubble monster, Koala knows just what to do and shows how brave he can be!

The illustrations are adorable but would them, and the text, would fit so much better in a board book format. At least they kept the animals from the same area (a kangaroo and a koala and did not mix their species). Sometimes when animals from forest, jungle or desert come together that lack of reality can make or break it. The fact that the two characters are different (one is a kangaroo and one a koala. And one is outgoing and the other shy) is the important part, but yet you can talk about how they are the same too. Without going to deeply into that part of the theme.

The main thing is, it is a cute story about friends and finally being brave when it is the right time.

Chase has a soft tone to their books. There is a spiritual aspect but (with the exception of one or two) there is not a religious aspect to them. Oliver’s Tree, Charlie’s Boat and Lulu’s Party are a few of the other titles by them.
