One of my coworkers let me borrow this book. She walked up to me and said “do you want to read this?”, and just looking at the cover, I knew the answer was yes! It looked a little creepy, a little murdery, and a lot interesting. She told me she read it in 3 days, but because it was an actual book, it took me a little while to get started. I’m a big ebook reader, just because I do my best reading in my bed with the lights off! Anyway, once I got started, I couldn’t stop. I read over 200 pages of it this past Saturday, and only stopped because my sister was pounding on my wall to get me to come over and party. I lead a multi-faceted life.
So like my title states, we’ve got an unreliable narrator in the main character – Dr. Anna Fox. She’s a psychologist and agoraphobe (10 months stuck in the house). We learn bits and pieces about the trauma that made her stay inside. I feel like once we learn the whole story, it’s totally worse than I imagined. And there of course a couple twists throughout the book. One gave me full body chills because I was so surprised! The other one I really only figured out at the last minute.
She starts spying on her neighbors after she becomes housebound, just to have something to do. She makes up little stories about each of them, and checks on them every day. One day she sees someone get stabbed, and because of her mental illness and situation, nobody believes her.
Anyway, I loved the book, and I’d totally recommend it if you’re into dark, moody, murdery stories!
