Click, Clack, Quack to School by that fabulous team of Doreen Cronin and Betsy Lewin has Duck still being ducky, but it needs a little more…something! I am not sure what that something is, but this addition to the Click, Clack, Moo series is missing the “muchness” that was found with the others.
With that said, it is a nice book to read on the first day or school or on a day that school has been going for a while. This book is not the usual story of “first day jitters” or “new school blues” or “making friends” that we tend to get with school books. This time Farmer Brown is telling everyone there are rules that must be followed, as school is a serious place! No place for moo moo mooing or oink oink oinking and as for Duck? Well he needs to be less Ducky! But Farmer Brown should know by now that the best laid plans do not always work out when you have this group of crazy, grand farm animals!
As always, the illustrations of Betsy Lewin make the text even funnier. They are a story all their own. And as we watch Duck meditate, the reader will wonder what is he up to this time? There are a lot of fun details and simply pleasures as always. Farmer Brown and the Barnyard Gang are ready to share their new adventure with all of us readers. If you are a fan of the series, dive right in. However, if you have never had the pleasure please find Click Clack Moo first.
