If you are like me and loved “The Room” then this is a must read. For anyone not familiar with “The Room” it is by far the best worst movie ever made. It is absolutely horrendous. Every scene has you questioning what is going on, or why certain things are happening, as well as laughing at the horrendous dialogue and appalling acting.

This can lead you on a quest to find out more about Tommy Wiseau – the guy who created, wrote, directed, produced, financed and starred in “The Room.” This book was co written by Greg Sestero  who was a friend of Tommy’s and who also acted in “The Room.” Greg gives some insight into the mystery of Tommy as well as a lot of information around the filming of “The Room.”

I found this book to be incredibly well written, from many aspects. Firstly, technically the book is well written and easy to read. It follows the format of alternating chapters on the filming of the movie, and of Greg meeting Tommy and the development of their friendship. The friendship line in the book finishes as the filming starts, and the filming line finishes at the premier of the movie. Very nicely composed.

The other reason I have for this book being well written is that Greg does an excellent job of honestly portraying himself, Tommy as well as his friendship with this man. He does not sugar coat anything, nor does he humiliate or tear Tommy to shreds. Which, given the person Tommy appears to be, it would be very easy to paint him as a lunatic who enjoys manipulating and abusing people. Greg writes this memoir with respect to both Tommy as well as the reader.

A fascinating read, and definitely one for any enthusiast of “The Room.”
