A fabulous mystery!

Before I write about the actual book, I would like to comment on Megan as an author. This is her debut novel, which I decided to read after reading her other book ‘The Escape Room’. I need to comment on how impressed I am with her as an author. I loved ‘The Escape Room’ and I have equally loved ‘The Girl in Keller’s Way’. I am looking forward to more books by Megan as I am incredibly impressed with her writing skills as well as her diversity. These two books are very different from each other – still in the mystery suspense crime thriller genre, yet a very different narrative with completely different style of characters, setting and crime. Both books are very well written with the perfect pace, revealing of information, engaging characters and satisfying endings.

The Girl in Keller’s Way is an excellent book. We follow the narrative through the perspectives of two characters, Julie the ‘troubled’ wife and Detective Mel Carter the person investigating the dead body, who happens to be the ex wife of Julie’s husband, who died three years previously. I don’t want to give too much away, suffice to say that the book leads you to suspect certain individuals, but throws enough red herrings to continuously keep you guessing.

I particularly enjoyed the character of Julie, who appears as an untrustworthy narrator as she seems to forget a number of things and leads you into wondering exactly what is going on, especially when she discusses Matt’s actions. Is she paranoid? Suffering with a mental illness? Or is she onto something?

I also thoroughly enjoyed the ending, although this might not be to everyone’s liking. 5 Stars!
