Betrayal. Just, betrayal. That is the main feeling I have at this point. Well, the main feeling in like 75% of my brain. The other 25% understands logically why what happened in this book happened, but that 75%, it is PISSED.
Just, how dare you.
Maybe it is a good thing that Vaughan and Staples are taking a year-ish hiatus on this series, because my main impulse right now is to go over to their houses, knock all the books off their bookshelves in a righteous fury, and maybe like, kick some furniture aggressively while yelling nonsense.

I’m not even hyperbolically reacting here. I am genuinely very angry about the last few pages of this book. I believe they know what they’re doing, but I am not happy about it. SPOILERS (SERIOUSLY) Marko was my favorite character, and I don’t think I will ever fully accept that they thought he needed to die END SPOILERS.
Perhaps when the year hiatus is up I will feel differently, but I don’t think so.
I feel you, so much.
I know I’ve mentioned my mental hate list before (because Robert Jordan died and will NEVER write his way off it). David Lynch is on there (the new season just very much confirmed that I was right to put him on there after the end of season 2). After the end of Y: the Last Man, Brian K. Vaughan was most certainly on the list. Saga wrote him on the list, but with the end of this, he pretty much rocketed back up to first position. Only time will tell if he’s going to redeem himself. I am unhappy and deeply traumatised.
I still think you should skip all RJ’s books and finish Wheel of Time. Sanderson’s last three books literally fix everything and they are very good.
I get what you mean about BKV and Y: The Last Man. I was a little traumatized by that ending, but I’ve come to appreciate it in re-read. I’m hoping something similar will happen here.
This makes me so nervous. I have Volume nine in my custody and am afraid to pick it up. :(
I mean, honestly go with your gut. You may want the extra time to learn to live with what happens (this all sounds very dramatic), or you may want to leave until the very last minute and get resolution right away closer to when the next volume comes out, which might not be until a year and a half from now.
I don’t have that kind of patience. I think we’re really dealing with a toss up between reading it in the next two weeks or in January.
We will be here to console you.
