Y’all I got some booooooooks!!! I got a sweet little button and a sticker but I got some books and let me tell you about that sweet little number on the bottom right.
I’ve already read it. Hella times, in fact. I fucking love that book. It was my introduction to Lois McMaster Bujold and everyone should read her because she is the literal best.
And this book I’ve already read? I love it the best of these. Because I gave up a lot this year. I gave up on my marriage, my house, my lifestyle. And I had to give up a lot of books when I moved from a four bedroom house into a 500 square foot “junior 1 bed-room” which is real estate speak for half a step above a studio. So I looked at my books and gave away everything that I could replace. That included my copies of most Bujold.
But now my life is full and full of space. The apartment I thought would feel oppressively small feels so big. When I started making room in my life and home for me, suddenly there was space everywhere for the things I love. And this book that I love, that brought me to an author I adore, sent to me by the lovely Bothari43 (who, by their username I already know is kin), is a sign and signifier that it is time to fill my space with the things that fill my heart.
It’s not going on my bookcase, it’s going on my altar.

As someone who has had to give up beloved books before, I share in your joy at replacing one. I’m so glad your apartment has room for what you love.
Awwww, this made me all sniffly! Now I wish I’d gotten you the whole set. I should’ve known you were already a Lois fan! Kin indeed. HUGS!
It sounds like you have a a very dramatic year. I’m so glad you have space in your life for the things that you love, even if you had to give many things up. Hope the new year brings you more happiness and further excellent reading experiences.
I’m loving that the book is going on your alter. We should all have a place of distinction for our most prized touchstones.
