End of CBR10 panic post!!!

December 28, 2018 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

So my December has been suuuper crazy.  Work is insane, and I’ve been trying to fit in reading with all the extra working I’ve been doing.  I’ve been falling asleep at night without reading, which is not normal for me.  Anyway, even when I have finished books, I haven’t had the time or energy to review them!  I write all day at work (nothing fun or exciting), so sometimes it’s hard to write these reviews after long days of work.  That’s why I’m shoving these two books together.

These two books are semi similar in that the main couples don’t communicate in a smart way, and they both end in violence.

In Only the Rain, the husband does something stupid with a good underlying motive, but he should’ve told his wife about his mistake earlier. His veteran father in law helps him solve his problem with a bunch of violence.

It was a quick read.  I felt for the guy, because he was going through some stuff, but I don’t know if his character was fleshed out enough for me to be fully invested.

Again, I didn’t like that he could’ve just talked to some people (firstly his wife), and gotten some help and made things a little bit easier.

In Dead Even, two lawyers are separately threatened by clients that they have to win their case or their spouse will be murdered. If they told each other about the problems earlier, it could’ve been much easier. They also ended everything in violence.  The wife (I’m so sorry, I can’t remember her name) is a new Assistant DA, and she’s got some self confidence issues from getting fired from her last job.  She “steals” a case to try and save her new job, and then the bad guy (not a spoiler, we learn quickly that he’s a bad dude) decides to hire her husband as his defense attorney.  It wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t as good as I wanted it to be.

This sweet pic just happened to be a few after my uploaded one, and it seems to fit here perfectly.  The men in these books could’ve made their lives so much easier if they communicated with their wives.

They were both interesting reads, but I’m not into forced plotting, which they both felt like at times.

I love to read. I'm usually reading at least 3 books at a time. They're not all good... some are really bad. I have trouble not finishing books though. Now CBR has doubled down on that trouble, because I want to get credit for reading the bad ones too! View kfishgirl's reviews»
