Life is a Cabaret, old Chum

I can’t believe it’s taken me 40 years to read Christopher Isherwood. Ok, maybe it’s only been 34 years because there’s no way I could have read this when I was 6. But I digress. The Berlin Stories is a combination of two of Isherwood’s novels – The Last of Mr Norris (Mr Norris Changes Trains in this edition) and Goodbye to Berlin. In Mr Norris, instead of Christopher Isherwood, the narrator is William Bradshaw (Isherwood’s middle names). Norris and Bradshaw meet on a train. […]

A Canadian mystery writer lives in New York city and gets involved in some supernatural/criminal hijinx. Also, he’s a werewolf (which is kind of obvious right from the cover, so, like, not a spoiler). This book started life as a stand-alone short story called “This Time Around”. Two different podcasts I listened to talked about this book and the two made-for-TV movies based on it.  I’d never read it. I do like to read books that are generally considered “terrible” or “so bad it’s good” and I know so many people who like (if not love) this series. People? Can I ask you? Why? I was reading the ebook and I made it to 49% of the way through and had to stop. I was bored and irritated. I didn’t care about […]

The Killer Kills Tall Guys and is also a Tall Guy

August 12, 2016 by DataAngel Leave a Comment

Rogue hero Jack Stratton is back in another action-packed, thrilling adventure. While recovering from a gunshot wound and the loss of his job on the police force, Jack’s romance with feisty Alice (aka Replacement) continues to develop. When Alice gets a seemingly harmless private investigation job–locate the owner of a lost dog–Jack grudgingly assists. Little do they know it will place them both in the crosshairs of a merciless serial killer I … didn’t hate this. I know. I know.  I usually only seem to […]
