Shitty Stuff Happening to Sad, Angry, Poor People

May 11, 2018 by Rachie3879 2 Comments

After serious reading I like to read something more quick and dirty, so I finally got around to reading Gillian Flynn’s Dark Places, something I’d bought for a Kindle deal of the day ages ago and never felt like approaching. I was right to be hesitant I guess.  While l enjoyed Gone Girl for the most part, I think I’ve gotten sick of the trend of having incredibly unlikeable main characters and awful situations and twists. Flynn has all of these in Dark Places and […]

Don’t do the audiobook

May 11, 2018 by Rachie3879 Leave a Comment

I really should stop trying audiobooks. Though I can listen to podcasts fairly attentively (depending on the subject matter of course), for whatever reason I don’t enjoy audiobooks. I space out a lot and if the person reading it aloud has an annoying voice I just can’t get into it. When we discover the victim ran a nasty gossip app that was about to reveal dirty secrets on the other four kids in […]

Generation X Geeks Apply Here

April 24, 2018 by Rachie3879 Leave a Comment

I was born in March of 1979, so I consider myself (whether correctly or not) some of the youngest Gen-Xers and generally a child of the 80s and 90s. The 90s were where my tastes in music were more formulated, but the 80s was my childhood. Though I generally avoid fantasy gaming, rpg’s, etc., I knew I would find something appealing in Ernest Cline’s Ready Player One. And, to be honest, though it’s been sitting on my kindle for over two years now, I wanted […]
