He might fear God, but he still loves boobs.

I follow a lot of authors on twitter. Every once in a while a bunch of writers will start talking about one book. A couple of months ago, that book was Jane Doe. Authors, all women but from several genres, were reveling in Jane’s darkness and her passion for revenge. Jane has diagnosed herself as a psychopath. A sweet tea of a story

January 21, 2019 by Mikki Blu Leave a Comment

Full disclosure – I’m not a big Jane Austen fan (cue gasps of astonishment), so I went into reading this modern spin on Sense and Sensibility without much expectation.  I had noticed it was reviewed here earlier this month, so when I spotted the copy at the library I was intrigued enough to pick it up.  This book tells the tale of the Woodward sisters, who are left to fend for themselves after their father (convicted of embezzlement) skips the country to avoid jail time.  […]

Millie and her friend group were the perfect cure. Millie and her group of guy friends all work at UC Santa Barbara as professors/researchers and they’re all single. When a fancy university event looms on the horizon, they make a pact to all get dates for it by joining an online dating […]

Setup to be an Epic Romance that Just Didn’t Do it For Me

January 19, 2019 by Lisa Bee Leave a Comment

Apparently this book is a little divisive among my circle of friends: some loved it, some really didn’t. And unfortunately I am falling on the side of it not really being for me. Which is not to say I don’t love epic romances (The Song of Achilles is one of my absolute favourite books, after all!), but the story here wasn’t selling me beyond the initial concept. It’s a shame really, I found the premise to be so intriguing, but the overall experience quite lackluster […]
