The Platonic Batbook

August 30, 2017 by Halbs Leave a Comment

My BFF Nate and I have been friends for twenty years. He’s been around for all of my hobbies and pursuits (woodcarving, video games, comics, Krav Maga, kayaking, alcoholism, podcasting, camping). He knows me better than almost anyone and knows all about my life-long Batman obsession. So when he said, “Halbs, this Batman comic is great,” I knew it would be great. And it is great.  One of the reasons it’s great is the writer – Geoff Johns. He is the current chief creative officer […]

So Many Batmans

August 27, 2017 by Halbs Leave a Comment

I don’t know much about Batman Beyond other than the fact that the big brother from Boy Meets World did the voice for Batman in the cartoon. That is pretty cool and enough to pique my interest. Moviegoers will recognize the major plot points from the final movie in the Nolan Batman trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises. Comic nerds will be familiar with the storyline for its supremely awesome […]

The Best of the Dini/Timm Batverse

July 3, 2017 by Halbs 2 Comments

Growing up, Batman was my guy thanks to Batman: The Animated Series. I loved the look and the mood of the show. Two guys largely responsible for that landmark show are writer Paul Dini and illustrator Bruce Timm. The third member of that B:TAS trinity is voice director Andrea Romano, who gave us our definitive Batman – Kevin Conroy. The success of the animated show translated well back into comics, many of which have been collected and reviewed by me in The Batman Adventures.  Dini […]
