I enjoy the DC Super Hero Girls series. It’s a fun entry point for younger readers ready to move up to chapter books, populated with friendly versions of popular superhero characters. My daughter (8) is not really a reader, but she gets very excited about these books. The bad guys aren’t terribly scary, which works well for my sensitive kiddo. The total reboot of DC Comics, called the New 52, has produced some solid hits with Birds of Prey, Batwoman, and Catwoman.
