A Couple of Friends Fumbling Their Way Through a Not-Quite-Zombie Apocalypse Situation

October 5, 2018 by Lisa Bee Leave a Comment

I previously read John Dies at the End by David Wong about two years ago, and just now remembered that there was a sequel to it after my friend mentioned that I could borrow her copy should it ever be returned to her from a previous reader… I myself ended up checking this book out of the library not a single day before my friend got her own copy handed back to her literally right in front of my own two eyes. Isn’t that coincidental… […]

Airport fiction, a great read, and a new favorite.

69. Die Trying by Lee Child (3 stars) I’m not entirely sure why I keep returning to these kinds of books. I don’t know what “kind” of book it is, other than “airport fiction”. You know the kind; the mass market vaguely defined fiction that goes down easy without leaving much of an aftertaste. David Wong is the head editor of Cracked.com, the comedy website, and the comedic voice that made Cracked such a success is the foundation to all three books. I would describe […]

“Uh….weren’t we having a mutiny?”, and other tales…

Well, one other tale, really. After reading Fuzzy Nation on narfna’s suggestion, I quickly delved into the other Scalzi books that I had access to. The first, The Collapsing Empire, was just recently released and is the first in a trilogy (and his first book under a 10 year, 13 book contract that includes a sequel to Lock In and a new book in the Old Man’s War series). The second, Agent to the Stars, is his first novel, self published on his website in […]
