#CBR10 Bingo – So Shiny: My Plain Jane

August 7, 2018 by Malin Leave a Comment

#CBR10Bingo: So shiny This review will contain spoilers for Jane Eyre, but that book is more than 170 years old, and therefore, if you don’t know the gist of the plot already, that’s really not my fault. In this slightly alternate universe, King George III of England was not actually mad, he just saw ghosts and could talk to them (making others believe he wasn’t quite right in the head). He founded a society “for the Relocation of Wayward Spirits”, led by none other than the Duke […]

Lady Bond Hunts Spy Ghosts and Discovers Cthulu May be Real

July 19, 2018 by CoffeeShopReader Leave a Comment

Make James Bond a married woman and more complex character, allow for a very real afterlife which connects in some ways to the living realm, add an extra double cross and you’ve got Summerland. The premise is super interesting: in the late 1930s there are 2 branches of British spies, one based in the world of the living and one based in the world of the dead, called Summerland. There is massive political intrigue and likely catastrophic conflict brewing between the followers of the Presence […]

Initially in my late teens I read her books with a voracious appetite, and regularly recommend her to others.  There are elements of […]

Charley Davidson, Private Eye and Grim Reaper at your service

February 4, 2018 by teresaelectro Leave a Comment

Despite being well-versed in the urban fantasy genre, I had yet to dive into the Charley Davidson series by Darynda Jones. It’s a new year, so why not jump into a new one? :) First Grave on the Right introduces us to a tired and bruised Charley Davidson being woken up from a very sexy dream by a dead lawyer. Needless to say, she’s pretty peeved. Before she can get her bearings,  her police detective Uncle Bob (UB for short) calls her to a murder scene. […]
