This rating might surprise even the casual comic reader, as the Kamala Khan version of Ms. Marvel is generally lauded and respected as a fun character and a breath of fresh air. While I would give the charming Kamala (and her dad) five stars, I didn’t enjoy the slow storyline of volume one. I also don’t like the art in the book. Alphona is a definitely talented artist; I simply would’ve chose a different art style for the book (more like this or this). For those unfamiliar […]
Just makes me want to re-watch the series, again.
Oh, man. I love that these comics exist, and are an official continuation of the story. Avatar: The Last Airbender is my comfort food. I watch it when I’m sick and it’s so happy and lovely and colorful. And look, I know it’s a kid’s show, but UGH IT’S SO GOOD. I also love Legend of Korra, and am super looking forward to the comics continuation of that show that’s supposed to be coming out soon. With all that said, this wasn’t my favorite of these […]
The Star Wars, Like The Facebook and The Netflix
In some parallel dimension, there’s a world that was cursed with this, George Lucas’s original screenplay for Star Wars. And as much as the prequels sucked in this dimension, this pulpy SciFi Star Wars may actually be worse. It’s hard to look at this book objectively, either. There are ghosts of the iconic Star Wars that we all know (and love!). The “you’ll be dead” dialogue from the Tatooine cantina is almost verbatim the same, but the characters and circumstances are different. Ever get a […]
Epically epic epicness and more words that also mean epic.
Turns out I didn’t wait long enough to start this series. I have fast run out of Saga and that is a tragedy. When is the next book? Siiiiigh. (Reminder to self for next time starting a Brian K. Vaughan series: the “long enough” time to wait to start a series of his is “when it’s already finished”.) Slight spoilers to follow. More than any other book in this series so far, I feel like Volume 5 really hit home for me why this series […]
