How Casey got to Rockton, and other stories

January 25, 2018 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

This is the beginning of the Rockton series.  We get to see Casey and Diana (Casey’s BFF) in the “real” world prior to their entry to Rockton.  We also get to see how Casey and Dalton’s love affair started.  So I believe I talked about how Casey got into Rockton a little bit in my review for book two.  If not, sorry, semi-spoilers!  I liked knowing the full backstory about Casey and Blaine, and who Casey left behind when she fled to Rockton.  I also […]

Living Off the Grid – What could possibly go wrong?

July 2, 2016 by Jenny S Leave a Comment

I’ve read a few of Kelley Armstrong’s previous books—mostly ones featuring werewolves—but this thriller looked like a fun summer read and that pretty much defines it.  There are some things I liked about it and some things that annoyed me but it was a quick read that kept my attention and kept me guessing about just enough plot points. Book two of this series picks up an hour or two after book one ends. I dove in head first and emerged a few hours later at the end of the book. While I liked Omens, I found Visions to be a lot more enjoyable. This may be because the set up was done and things were all in place so now we could really explore the world that Armstrong is building here. The A plot is a murder mystery. Someone leaves the body of a […]

Suburbia, but with magic.

February 16, 2016 by melanir Leave a Comment

I have a complicated relationship with Kelley Armstrong novels. On one had I tend to love the world building and the main character. On the other, well she has TERRIBLE male leads and her track record with female characters aside from the lead is problematic. It’s those second two that keep her from being an author that I goes directly onto my auto buy list. However, Omens went onto my TBR pile after I read a short story, a prequel of sorts, called The Screams […]
