Cannonball favorite Lucy Knisley just came out with a new book so of course I had to get my hands on it. Her books are always a high point in my reading life. Getting married was never something Knisley had planned for or looked forward to, so she felt like a fish out of water during much of the planning process. Something New is the story of how she and her now husband tackled their momentous wedding day and the years leading up to it. […]
To your union, and the hope that you provide
Remember on Sex and the City (yeah, that’s right) when Carrie and Miranda try on wedding dresses, just for shits and giggles, and Carrie has a panic attack? 3.5 stars. This is my third Knisley graphic memoir (and I have Something New and French Milk on my nightstand). An Age of License was perfectly enjoyable, but after the surprise and delight of Relish and near perfection of Displacement, it pales a bit in comparison. I have a sneaking suspicion it might have hit me with more impact if I had read it just a few years ago when I was younger and dealing with the same kinds growing pains. Like Displacement, this is […]
