2018 – I Can’t Quit You

January 1, 2019 by Jenny S 1 Comment

This last year, like many Cannonballers, I read more books than I got a chance to review and so this final review of 2018, which will end up being my first review of 2019, is a sort of odds and ends.  Here in no particular order are books that I read while in China, books I read while on vacation in Northern Wisconsin, and books I read during my fall and spring semesters that I just didn’t have time to write about at the time. […]

I don’t think I really have anything to say about this one that hasn’t been said already – yes, Lucy Parker consistently writes very good contemporary romances.  This one was good but not quite as engaging/addictive as her previous novels.  I think she chose a heavier subject for this one, and it reflected in the novel. That’s not a negative at all but it means it wasn’t quite as light and fun as her previous two novels (and certainly Pretty Face had some darker turns […]

Making It Up as They Go Along

June 25, 2018 by faintingviolet 5 Comments

CBR10 is my seventh year participating in Cannonball Read, and in that time I feel comfortable saying that I’ve made a space for myself as a reviewer of romance books. I review all the romance I read because I believe firmly that everyone should read what they want, read what they like, and have someone pointing the way for them. We have our lead dogs of this pack (#BlameMalin) and we have the “hobbyists” (me). One of the greatest gifts of Cannonball Read is finding […]
