The Predator is strangely named. I’ve been sitting here for twenty minutes trying to figure out who exactly the predator is in this book, and I still don’t have a definite answer. This book is nominally about the Animorphs trying to carry out Ax’s plan of luring a Yeerk ship to the ground, stealing it, and then hightailing it back to Andalite space (where, theoretically, he can send reinforcements back to the Animorphs), but really, it’s about Marco finally committing to the mission. He just keeps writing them, doesn’t he.
On the one hand, this is the most predictable, tired thing Riordan has ever written. And on the other . . . it was really fun. I’m so conflicted. You will spoil the other books for yourself, which sucks, but more importantly, this book leans on the emotions and plots created in those series. You just won’t care very much about certain things that happen in this […]

Escaping Peril is the eighth book in the Wings of Fire series, which you do need to read before getting to this one as the story is pretty much continuous throughout the novels. Wings of Fire is a middle-grade series, suitable for those youngsters just starting to read chapterbooks, and is absolutely delightful. I devoured the seven books that were out one Saturday back in August of last year. The books follow a group of dragonets who believe themselves to be the dragonets of prophecy and […]
