I’m officially hooked on this series. With the exception of books two and three, which I thought were dips in quality, this series just keeps getting better. Part of my enjoyment comes from this being essentially now a serialized story. The first four you could pick up out of order and still get everything out of them that Penny wanted you to. But this one almost entirely depends, narratively and emotionally, on the previous five books, but mostly the fifth. Spoilers for previous books to […]
Probably Not a Zebra
Lethal White is the fourth book in the Cormoran Strike series, and it’s the one I liked best besides the first. This series has, on the whole, been a bit of a letdown for me. I really liked Cuckoo’s Calling and got excited about the possibility of a new series to enjoy, but then The Silkworm and Career of Evil were both so gross that I really didn’t enjoy them much at all. I still wanted to give this one a try because I like […]
A poor murder mystery in sci-fi clothing

Trying to review a series without spoilers
Murder in the Mystery Suite I think I’ve found my favorite of Ellery Adams’ series. Murder in the Mystery Suite is what I was looking for in a clever murder mystery novel. There is no magic and the romance aspect takes a backseat to the solving of the murder. It’s all more realistic than her other books, in that it theoretically could happen in an only slightly alternate universe. The way the narrator pronounces certain words can be a bit irksome, Jane Steward is […]
