YA Post-Apocalyptic Time

December 23, 2014 by Rachie3879 1 Comment

The Infinite Sea y Rick Yancey is the sequel to his young adult bestseller The Fifth Wave and another post-apocalyptic YA novel. I highly recommend either grabbing a Cliff’s Notes on the first book or finding a quick summary if you’ve not read it in some time. I failed to do so and I found myself struggling to figure out who the characters in this second book were. I suppose this is the problem with getting into a series before it’s finished. I recall enjoying […]

What Angels Fear

As stated in my last review, I’m so behind that I definitely won’t achieve Full Cannonball status. I also don’t think the following review will be that comprehensive since it’s been months since I read the book in question. What Angels Fear by C.S. Harris is the first in a series of mysteries starring Sebastian St. Cyr. Disclaimer: I’m super behind on writing up the books I’ve read. What can I say? Good things happening in my life have unfortunately meant I’ve had less time to read and write about said reading. I’m super behind on my TiVo too, if it makes you feel any better.  This is all to say that the following summary is going to be brief and probably leave out a lot since it’s been quite some time since I read the book in question. The Perils of […]

We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves

August 23, 2014 by Rachie3879 Leave a Comment

My sister-in-law read Karen Joy Fowler’s We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves and then gave it five stars on Goodreads with this review: “Don’t read any reviews on this book just read it.” She’s not one to be prolific with the perfect ratings so I did just what she advised and I can only suggest you do the same. Unfortunately, when I tried to be a good library citizen (the book was due back and I couldn’t renew due to a wait list), I looked […]
