Strike Re-read Completed, Bring on Book Four

December 4, 2018 by faintingviolet 1 Comment

Because my brain doesn’t seem to hold onto the details of mystery books the story is often new to me again. This time I didn’t have that experience though, I had already binged the BBC adaptation of the books, but I still thoroughly enjoyed my time with the characters. Once again Career of Evil is Rowling writing an intricate, but not unsolvable, mystery where the clues are right there in front of you, and even if you don’t catch the signs along the way, the […]

Yes, dear ones, the book was indeed better. (CBR10 Bingo)

Since I missed the world of Cormoran Strike, when the television show was announced I knew I would do my best to track it down. It wasn’t easy in the States without a Cinemax subscription, but I sent a plea to my brother and he managed to procure the series for me. It is sometimes very difficult to find new words to express a reaction to a book, and now that writing a review is part of my reading process I cannot skip a review. If I read a book… I’m reviewing it (with the exception of one book back in CBRV). So, why did I dive […]

The audiobooks really do make this series better.

This review is mostly going to be me responding to some of my own thoughts from my first review, with some extras thrown in; for example, how I was considering raising this to five stars because I loved Robert Glenister’s narration so much. I love the dead tree versions of this book, but the audio adds another level. Highly recommend if you are so inclined. (I’m leaving my rating at 4.5, rounding down, for now, because of the ending. See below.) Spoilery discussion of several […]
