I will say that I timed this perfectly. Book five is coming out in a little over a month, and I’m all caught up. Honestly, I wish the last book was out right now, because the last fifty pages or so of this one made me intensely curious about how this series is going to end. Which is good news! Because throughout the first half of this one, I was going to three-star it and hope for the best for book five. What charmed me […]
Thomas is my favorite.
So far on this Dresden Files re-read of mine, I’ve liked all the books better (some significantly so). But this one gave me feeeeelings. I mean, I mostly remembered it for the Harry-goes-undercover-on-the-set-of-a-porno plot, so to say that these feeeeelings were unexpected was a bit of an understatement. So Harry goes undercover on the set of a porno! His White Court vampire acquaintance, Thomas, has asked him for a favor, to take the director on as a client, to protect the cast and crew from […]
Pawns in the Game
Stiletto is the follow up to David O’Malley’s The Rook. I quite enjoyed The Rook; I’m less fond of the follow up. I think it’s still very good urban fantasy, but some of the issues I had with The Rook became more prominent here and a few new issues were introduced. I’ve been unsuccessfully casting about for a new urban fantasy series to sink my teeth into ever since I devoured every Dresden Files and Women of the Otherworld book I could find. Having tried (and failed miserably) to get into Laurell K. Hamilton, JR Ward, Alexandra Ivy and many others who made my shit itch, it’s taken a little while but, filled as this is with fun characters and a brilliant (and very British) sense of humour, I think this may be The One. DC […]
