Peter Grant is a damn delight. I hadn’t gone very far in the book when I thought, “OMG, I like him!” I generally start books thinking I’m going to like the protagonist, but this was an extra special like. Peter Grant is just finishing his probationary period as a Constable in the London Metropolitan Police. He has dreams of fancy cars, suits, and telling perps “you’re nicked.” But instead he’s going to be making a “valuable contribution” doing paper work. Until he interviews a ghost […]
Apocalypse is a frame of mind.
I never actually wrote a review of this book the first time around, just a few quick sentences. I don’t remember why. I was probably just being lazy. It’s a YA, which I typically have issues with anyway, and its’ about hell-beasts, and demons, and teenagers with feels, and I’m a 30-year-old woman who doesn’t have […]
The sun comes up, just your bones remain
Dusk or Dark or Dawn or Day is a standalone novella by Seanan McGuire who is one of my favorite writers. I love her work and I recommend it every chance I get. But even with all that, this novella hit me in a very different way than most of her novels do. I can’t be objective about this novella, I just can’t. It completely and utterly wrecked me and left me a sobbing mess on my couch last night. Yesterday morning I got an email […]
