There’s a quiet undertone of loneliness that permeates The Lowland by Jhumpa Lahiri from beginning to end. Every character seems unable to fulfill what others want from them, unable to communicate to others what they need from each other, and unwilling to try and find a middle in between.
Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this book. It was just too much and the characters too empty. To read more about it, head to my blog.
