In your face, Neil Armstrong!
Finally, hard sci-fi with a sense of humor.
This is the story of Mark Watney, who has been stranded on Mars when the rest of his crew abandon him for dead. It’s not their fault. They believed he was dead already. This is a shipwreck story, but the man marooned is stuck in a barren wasteland where communication with Earth is just this side of impossible and the only music he has is disco. How will he survive? Will he make it home? And what happens to his crew when they find out they effectively sentenced a man to die?

If anybody else has recommendations for hard sci-fi with a sense of humor, I would love to hear them. Bonus points if the author is a woman.
Cannot handle sci-fi unless it has a sense of humor. Have heard such great things about this book. (And am looking forward to the movie, but now I have to decide if I should read it first or not.)
