Thank you Alexis! This was one awesome package to receive! Shortbread, books, and previously loved library books?! All of my favorite things (seriously). I’ve been hearing great things from my sister (aka her asking a lot if I’ve read them yet) about the Deanna Raybourn series so woooooo for getting the first two! And what’s even more impressive is I’ve wanted to start the Riyaria series of books for a while, but instead of the one I put on my list (which turns out to be the start of the second series), Alexis went and found the first of the first series. I get to read them fully chronologically! The excel spreadsheet making book nerd that I am is beyond giddy! Can’t wait to review them all for CBR8!

The Deanna Raybourn Lady Julia Grey books are mostly very excellent indeed. My particular favourite is probably book three, for reasons that will become obvious when you get round to reading it. She’s written three sort of spin-off books to these as well, more adventure than mystery, set in the 1920s, and they are all great too, especially Night of a Thousand Stars.
Phew – you aren’t upset that they aren’t all in mint condition! Yay!
Our taste in books is identical, for real. I love the Lady Julia Grey books and felt #2 and #3 were stronger than #1. Mysteriously book #2 is not available new anywhere (huh?) so you get a um…well-loved copy instead :) I hope you enjoy them as much as Malin and I do!
Theft of Swords is actually book #1 and #2 in the Riyaria combined (you had book #1 on your wish list). I figured – in for a penny, in for a pound :)
Oh man! You are way more on top of this than me! I’m so glad. I can’t wait to read all of them, because yes, our book taste is pretty much identical.
