The final Parasitology book

May 16, 2016 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

Chimera
Ok so this is the final book in the Parasitology book. Everything is all sorted out. At this point, Sal has been a semi-prisoner at home and at SymboGen, an actual prisoner at USAMRIID, an escapee from USAMRIID, then a prisoner of Sherman’s, an escapee from Sherman’s, and finally a willing returnee to both USAMRIID and Sherman’s.

At this point, the “sleepwalkers” or the “throwbacks” are fairly under control. Both USAMRIID and Sherman have been collecting them for various reasons. The government is trying to figure out if they can reverse the sleepwalker plague, and take back the country. Sherman’s people are working on turning the throwbacks into new chimera, after dropping some tapeworm eggs into the water and contaminating most of California. The government is mostly the good guy, and Sherman is mostly the bad guy. Of course USAMRIID wants the humans to win the human / chimera war. Sherman wants the chimera to win the same war, since his people are all chimera.

Throughout this all, Sal is the first and only known natural chimera. All of the others have been created in laboratories. All of the sleepwalkers and throwbacks know her name and creepily say it to her (if they’re not trying to bite her). After one of her many escapes, Sal comes across another chimera, in the form of a five year old girl. She instantly falls in love with her and takes care of her as her own.

She’s away from Nathan and her dogs for most of this book, but at points they’re reunited and it feels so good.

All is well in the end, and this book somehow neatly tied up all of the loose ends without it feeling forced or silly.

I love to read. I'm usually reading at least 3 books at a time. They're not all good... some are really bad. I have trouble not finishing books though. Now CBR has doubled down on that trouble, because I want to get credit for reading the bad ones too! View kfishgirl's reviews»
