Quick Questions with a Cannonballer: TylerDFC

June 15, 2016 by MsWas 9 Comments

why_we_started_an_all_mens_book_club[1]It’s TylerDFC‘s turn under the Cannon Fodder microscope. I hope you’re feeling loquacious, Rob! (Did you guys know his name’s not even Tyler?? The things you learn at this gig!)

How many times have you participated in CBR?

I have been in CBR from the start. I’ve been a Pajiban from way back and was friends with Amanda (AlabamaPink) Amos and Brian Prisco. After Amanda passed it was a way to honor her that I fully support and I have since done it every year. Last year was the first time I completed the full 52.

Has being a participant changed the way you read? If so, how?

It has. I have stretched out quite a bit and mix and match genres. I use to read mostly beach read thrillers but now spread out quite a bit and read some classics, some science fiction, fantasy, “literature”, etc. I enjoy changing up genres and challenging myself going outside my wheelhouse. I’ve discovered a lot of new authors this way so I’m never hurting for something to read. I also find myself thinking more critically while reading toward writing the eventual review. I think it has helped my writing skills quite a bit.

What’s the first book you recommend to new friends?

Furiously Happy. If you like Jenny Lawson that’s an acid test we can be friends.

What’s your favorite book-based movie?

Jaws. One of the few movies that is better than the book. Fight Club is a close second.

Chipotle or Moe’s?

I love the sofrita at Chipotle but overall I have to say Moe’s.

    Gasp!
Rob?!?! It’s like nothing you read on the internet is true.

    Moe’s is better than Chipotle.

Like Chipotle or Qdoba. But with a better selection of salsas and queso sauce.

I live in Tucson, there are no Moe’s or Qdoba’s. Today is the first I’ve heard of either! Luckily there is a hole in the wall authentic Mexican restaurant or stand placed every few blocks or so. I almost never go to Chipotle anyway. We take our Mexican food very seriously here.

          Oh, hey look: http://www.abc15.com/entertainment/events/moes-southwest-grill-named-favorite-fast-casual-mexican-restaurant-plans-arizona-expansion

They are apparently coming here soonish. I guess they used to be in PHX but they all closed.

I knew you’d been around since before I joined up in CBR4, but I didn’t realize it went all the way to the beginning. :) I’m glad you’re back to reviewing after the epic loss of files.

And Moe’s wins always, and not just because Chipolte is too dumb to have queso available for my queso needs.

I’ve never been to Moe’s or Chipolte. We only have Tijuana Flats in my Nora Roberts town.

These little interviews are the best.

I’ve still yet to hit the half cannonball, even though I’ve been doing it since CBR3 (or 2? I don’t remember). Good job on hitting 52 last year!!
