So Excellent! – CBR 8 – Review #2

December 22, 2016 by FyreHaar 1 Comment

This review covers three romance novellas that read as one larger story – So Sweet, So Good, & So For Real.

Rebekah Weatherspoon has been a Must Read author for me since I read the Fit Trilogy last year. So For Real, the final installment in this series, came out a couple of weeks ago and I snapped it right up.

Our MC is Kayla Davis – a thick, black, bisexual woman who has just been laid off from her job. Her roommate, Adler, convinces her to sign up for a service that facilitates sugar daddy/baby arrangements so they don’t get evicted.  Kayla manages to meet (and hook up with) the most eligible bachelor possible – Michael Bradbury – the owner of the sugar service.

Weatherspoon’s writing is breezy and fun. The whole story is written from Kayla’s perspective, if first person is a deal breaker for you this is not your story. Each of the three parts has laugh out loud moments, as well as more serious issues.  The range of emotions that the main couple go through give weight and depth to the relationship that develops. Kayla and Michael talk frankly about their economic and age differences (she’s 24, he’s 49). They are fun to watch as they work out just what they want from their relationship.

I very much liked that (tiny spoiler) Kayla keeps working and in fact starts her own business after hooking up with Michael. She’s smart, she’s ambitious, and she’s doesn’t change any part of her character to get a man. She’s herself and he likes it.

The sex is good. So Sweet has the best written boom boom and is the one I have re-read the most, but the limo scene in So For Real isn’t bad.

These are a fun, quick read with hot times and a happy ending.

P.S. Courtney Milan fans can spot a fun cameo in So For Real.
