I’m joining CBR for the first time with a book that’s absolutely amazing. I know it’s been reviewed a few times on this platform, but I thought I’d add my own review since I am a teacher an recommending it for our summer reading program.
So many feels! This is a young adult book with some heavy themes. On the surface, it’s a romance between Natasha, a Jamaican born illegal immigrant facing deportation, and Daniel, a first born second son of Korean parents. The two, both seniors in high school, meet by accident while Daniel is on his way to his college interview with a Yale alum and Natasha is trying one last time to stay in the US.

This book is waiting for me at the library via Inter-library loan right now!
I read it in less than 3 days (over the past weekend). So much more than a young adult romance! I’m really pushing for it to be on our summer reading list this year. An exceptional book for teenagers that deals with such a variety of human experiences.
We’re doing this one in my book club in a couple months! I can’t wait. I’ve heard such great things.
