Andy is an ordinary guy whose wife ran out on him. So he ran to New York City. He returns home upon receiving news of his grandfather’s deteriorating health and meets Daisy, a spunky girl who makes him her new project.
“Something is wrong here. And not just the obvious stuff, like dildos, the trashed yard, and the fact that my mother is covered in glitter. It’s something worse.”
This book reminds me of the movie Garden State, damaged people trying to get their lives back together and finding solace in a new friendship. There is something wonderfully cathartic to see the people you dislike in this book get their just desserts, but it’s even better when it is from an organic storyline and not forced. The flow of this book is excellent. It is well told, makes you laugh, and makes you want to keep reading.

This is one of the better books I’ve read in quite some time. I highly recommend it.
I haven’t read this one (yet!), but I loved Norman’s other book — Domestic Violets. Very funny in a morbid way.
I definitely want to read Domestic Violets now. This was a very good one, I look forward to your thoughts if you read it.
