Talking as Fast as I Can

April 24, 2017 by Ealbrecht Leave a Comment

This was a very quick and easy book for me to read. I liked how I felt like Lauren was talking to me and how her personality came through in the writing. I enjoyed hearing about how she started out in acting and some of the different auditions that she had for parts early on and the things that she learned from these.  One of the things that she learned was that she needs to be comfortable with the part, and it’s ok to turn roles down if it isn’t something that she was comfortable with. She also learned to read carefully what the song/script says, sometimes words have two pronunciations and using the wrong one can create an entirely different meaning!

I also enjoyed hearing her perspective on Gilmore Girls, she had gone back and re-watched the series to help her remember what happened in each season and what was going on at the time as well. I liked hearing about what she thought of her co-stars and the writers of the show. I didn’t watch Gilmore Girls until a Year in the Life came out, and Lauren pointed out something that I didn’t notice when I was watching the series- that as the series progressed, the characters began talking faster (this now makes me understand the title of her book!)

Lauren also has life lessons included in her book, one that I saw that everyone could take away from reading this was:

“It’s coming, just not on your time frame”

It’s something that we need to remember when we are expecting something to happen and it doesn’t, sometimes we are expecting things to happen and it just isn’t time yet.

Lastly, one thing that she stated many times at the end, was “That was not an ending, it was a cliffhanger,” in reference to the final for words, and I completely agree.
