From the Amazon description: Man about town Arthur Lawton spends his days pursuing entertainment while shoeshine Joe Sprat labors to better his family’s lives. When an argument about nature versus nurture sparks a wager, Arthur swears to a friend he can turn this working man into a gentleman who will pass at a society function.
I loved this re imagining of My Fair Lady. It was sweet and funny, and boy did I like Arthur Lawton more than Higgins! I will admit beyond the music and the clothes and getting to look at Audrey Hepburn I am not a big fan of the My Fair Lady movie, so I had no investment in the source material. I always have a harder time with retellings if I love the original.
Joe and Arthur have great chemistry and I really enjoyed Joe’s insights into Arthur’s life that went beyond “well you’re spoiled and worthless”.
