I wanted to be more into it

October 17, 2017 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

So this is book 5 in the Omega Days series.  I read the first four and loved them.  I think maybe if I had read this right after I finished book 4, I would’ve been more into it.  I kinda forgot about where everyone was in the world, and I kinda lost my connection to the characters.  I didn’t have the opportunity to read it right after I finished book 4 though, because it wasn’t out yet!

Anyway… I feel like every single one of my reviews starts out with some sort of rant semi-related to the book I’m reviewing, then I type “anyway”, and get on with the actual review.  At least I’m consistent!  This book is mostly about Skye and the soldiers she’s travelling with.  I remember thinking when I was reading Crossbones (book 4) that I couldn’t figure out how they were going to wrap up Skye’s story, because I thought that Crossbones was the last book.  Clearly there are more to come.

The Feral Road is basically a road trip story, so the title totally makes sense.  Skye and the soldiers she meets up with are travelling across the country, trying to get back to Reno.  There are packs of drifters / skinnies / zombies (whatever you want to call them – everyone in this world has a different name for them) throughout their journeys, and there are also multiple Hobgoblins.  Unfortunately for our human friends, the Hobgoblins seem to be mutating into something somehow worse than a regular Hobgoblin.  They’re getting stronger and smarter and faster.  This author is not afraid of killing people, so I don’t get too attached!  Skye is in peril at the end, so hopefully book 6 comes out soon, before I forget that I care!

I love to read. I'm usually reading at least 3 books at a time. They're not all good... some are really bad. I have trouble not finishing books though. Now CBR has doubled down on that trouble, because I want to get credit for reading the bad ones too! View kfishgirl's reviews»
