Kissable Jerk

October 21, 2017 by Lane Leave a Comment

Per Amazon: After their father’s death, Miss Judith Taverner and her brother Peregrine travel to London to meet their guardian, Lord Worth, expecting an elderly gentleman. To their surprise and utter disgust, their guardian is not much older than they are, doesn’t want the office of guardian any more than they want him, and is determined to thwart all their interests and return them to the country.

So I am going to tackle a few Heyer reviews and to sort out my feelings I have broken down her romances into three categories: swoony, mystery, and comedy. I will rank each book on a 1 to 10 scale in each category.

Regency Buck is a fun hate turns to love story. There is a forced kiss moment that is so common in books and movies written in this time (this one was written in 1935), the hero is also a bit highhanded but I didn’t hate him for it.

Swoony Rating: 7

There is a focus on the romance and the best parts are when the love interests interact.

Mystery Rating: 8

Someone is trying to murder the brother and in true Regency fashion it is up to the victims to do the sleuthing and figure out which of their mild mannered acquaintances is actually a villain.

Comedy Rating: 5

It has the usual wit and silliness but it never overwhelms the other elements.
