I have read numerous works this year trying to understand the world we live in today. Too Fat, Too Slutty, Too Loud falls squarely in the middle of the pack of a year loaded with politically charged books like What Happened?, On Tyranny and Unbelievable as well as more feminist charged books like We Should All Be Feminists and Hunger.

Petersen chooses 10 women who have been deemed unruly in polite society; these 10 women each embody a particular trait that can be too much for the general public. Some of them were a bit of a stretch (Kim Kardashian is “Too Pregnant?”) but a lot of them bought up interesting points that, in a longer format, would have been interesting to explore. She ties each celebrities “unruly” characteristic trait back to society as a whole leading to an overall well researched, but fluffy and funny, book.
