Honestly, I had great hopes for this newest creation by Mo Willems (as I am a little nuts about squirrels). But I Lost My Tooth has too much in the way of shenanigans and not enough bite in the facts about the subject matter area. Granted there are some pieces of information too sink your chompers into about teeth and squirrels, but I would have liked to have seen more. Yet, I am assuming that for the age it is aimed at (The Elephant and Piggie crowd) this is probably enough for them. There are some very a-corny jokes that kids will tell over and over (and you will have to pretend they are funny the 10th time you have heard it) and it is a fun story that most kids will enjoy. Then again, I have never been most kids.
When Zoom Squirrel (one squirrel in a band of crazy squirrels) loses one of their baby teeth, the friends of Zoom try to find it for them. However, if they just stopped and paid intention to 
Zoom, they would have learned that it is okay to have this kind of loss and a lot of trouble would not have ensued. Then again, had they paid attention, it would have been a very short tail.
I Lost My Tooth is classic Mo Willems from the text right down to the illustrations. That quirky humor and his simplistic (yet perfectly detailed) illustrations scream out “I am a Mo Willems creation!” (Okay, maybe that was the slight fever I had talking to me, but I Lost My Tooth is very much a Willems piece of work.)
