Did we go too far this time?

Goodnight Trump (an unauthorized parody) has potential. You are not a Trump fan, yes! We get to say, “F-Trump” as Lea DeLaria is so fond of saying. You know that Gan Golan and Erich Origen are going to have fun.

However, the issue with books like this is they get old fast. There have been too many parodies of Goodnight Moon that one more waters them all down. And the fact that this is political and not “sweet” can make it feel “icky” at times. Goodnight Moon almost should not be used in such an adult way.

But the saddest part is, what they are saying is so true that it is NOT funny. To rate this book is to usually show your politics. A high score usually means “Yes, Trump is a Rump” and a low score usually is “Look at all those snowflakes getting butt-hurt again.” But my low score is because as mentioned, we have too many parodies and this time it is not funny.

However, yes, there are some funny things (the vulture outside the window on a dead tree is amusing) but the Bunny tied up, gagged? The little girl hiding in the corner? Too close to home. There is also a part of the illustrations that threw me off. There are two kittens that are laying on the floor in a certain position. At the end, they are on the bed in the same position. The artist did not even bother to make a new image, just cut and pasted.

The simplest thing to say is: Are you a fan of Trump? Not for you. Not a Trump fan? This is probably for you.
