From the author of Sing, Unburied, Sing. A collection of essays, memoirs, poetry, and short stories reflecting the state of race relations in this country in the time in which we have found ourselves.
Some are amazing, some are not, but the first light-hearted piece called my name. There has been a death, and cousins who are only remotely known to each other have collected for the funeral. But they are teens, and it’s the hinterlands of Florida, and they make their way off to get away and perhaps smoke something relaxing. But then. The Gaaators!
So I was 9 and we were off from So. Cal. to Gainesville Florida for a family reunion and we know about keeping pets indoors at night because of coyotes, but gators? Daaamn.
That’s a whole ‘ nother level, son.
happy first review!
