I like books, but I'm SUPER picky about them. To clarify- a three star rating means that I liked the book and found nothing objectionable in it. As 3 is the average between 1 and 5 this means the book is an average read, perfectly competent but not outstanding.

Enormous Cosmic Possibilities, Itty Bitty Setting

March 6, 2017 by melanir 2 Comments

I finished The Invisible Library on Saturday and I had almost completely forgotten about it by today, which is Monday. It’s not that the book is bad, because it was perfectly enjoyable to read, it just didn’t really stand out much. This was, I think, my local Vaginal Fantasy chapter’s pick to read for February and or March. It’s either this one or A Curious Beginning- but fortunately I have time to read that one before the meeting as well. At any rate, I’m struggling […]

Cranky Old Women are Delightful to Read About

February 27, 2017 by melanir Leave a Comment

The Lost Child of Lychford is the sequel to The Witches of Lychford, and I don’t think it’s gonna make much sense if you haven’t read the first one. However, it’s a nice little addition to the world Cornell has created and I enjoyed it. I will be keeping my eyes on further books in this series/world and I’ll definitely check out Cornell’s other books. As it was established in the first book, Lychford is an important town located at the crossroads of many worlds. […]

Three Women against all the forces of evil

February 27, 2017 by melanir Leave a Comment

The Witches of Lychford is a quiet little novella about a small town in England and the supernatural forces that influence it. The book takes the three spheres of faith, science, and magic and looks at how those three things work together to shape the reality of the world Cornell has created. I really enjoyed it and quickly picked up the follow up when I finished it. Lychford, for whatever reason, sits at the center of the roads between the many supernatural worlds and our […]

I Enjoyed the Ranting a lot more then the book

February 23, 2017 by melanir 2 Comments

And so I pushed through the second book in this trilogy. I am still less than impressed, but because my expectations were so low, this one wasn’t quite as bad as the first. Which means this is proves the theory that lowered expectations make things better. Oh, don’t get me wrong, it’s still terrible it just didn’t disappoint me in addition to being terrible so… yea… For the record, I skimmed a lot, a LOT, of this book. So what’s the plot? Well, Lira’s evil […]
