I thought I was going to love Scales & Scoundrels Volume 1: Into the Dragon’s Maw. The cover looks funny and has some interesting looking characters. However, from page one I disliked Luvander. I was shocked (yes, my biased showed through) that Luvander is female. The way they introduce her, she has typical scoundrel qualities that in graphic novels stereotypically lends itself to a young male character. But the fact she is a she was introduced very casually. The other players of a very Dungeons […]
Cute cooking manga
My elementary school daughters have recently discovered the manga section at the library and due to their interest in cooking shows they brought home Kitchen Princess: Volume 1. It is a classic shoujo manga. Shoujo stories are aimed primarily at young females and are heavily focused on personal and romantic relationships this is no exception. The heart of the story is Najika Kazami an orphan (because of course she is) with the ability to remember everything she has ever tasted and can recreate a dish perfectly […]

She lives with her aunt, Ella, who runs the store and the two of them are basically all each other has. Will’s friends Noel, his sister Reese, and Autumn spend time rafting down the river and […]

However, “Archie” was the first comics I was introduced to so it has a special place in my reading journey. Since the reboot of “Archie”, thanks in part to the show, Riverdale, the new “Archie” comics has been updated for a more modern audience. This first volume starts […]
