“Because you’ll never meet me and it’s the closest we can get.”

I really enjoyed this book, both before and after the bizarre twist that occurs. Reading some other reviews on Goodreads, it seems like most people either loved the twist, too, or let it destroy their opinion of the book. I personally felt the twist was hinted at well enough through the first part to make it less shocking and more expected, but I’m also reading The Rook right now, so my head’s in a weird place. If you’re at all interested in reading this book, I […]

I was a little torn on rating this book, because I really liked a few of the essays, kind of hated a couple, and felt indifferent towards most of the rest. My indifference, however, stemmed mostly from the fact that Klosterman’s pop culture world runs about 5 to 10 years ahead of mine, so much of what he discusses feeling fervently about as a 20 something, I totally missed out on as a pre-teen. I flipped through some of the options and picked Andie Mitchell’s It Was Me All Along because it said that she was a food blogger and I thought that might be interesting to read about. These memoirs focus mostly on her childhood issues with her weight, which actually makes the third or fourth book that […]

God, I love this book –even though the cover still really creeps me out. I have read it before — 2013, it looks like — but haven’t listened to the audio version. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE AUDIO VERSION. If the written copy deserves 5 stars, the audio (read by the author, of course) should get 6! 7! Give Tina all the stars! “Some people say, “Never let them see you cry.” I say, if you’re so mad you could just cry, then cry. It terrifies everyone.” […]
